Harley was sat in her cell in silence, slumped in the very corner with her back against the cold stone wall. She hugged her legs to her chest, and her head sagged forward so her forehead rested on her knees. A faint sound reached her ears and she raised her head just slightly, frowning and straining to hear the sound. Actually, sounds would be the more accurate word - as they got louder and louder, it became apparent that the sound was repetitive. It was a sort of crunch and crumble. Harley's eyes became wider and her heartbeat accelerated as she realised that it was the familiar crunch and crumble of walls being blown open. [She had done that enough in her time to know what it sounded like; bank heists, museum robberies...ah, they were good times.]
She unfolded her legs and was in the process of standing when there was the faint whistling of a projectile cutting through the air. Before she had time to react, said projectile burst through her cell wall too, sending impact shockwaves through the room that caused Harley to fall with a panicked squeal. As she was showered with debris from the ruined wall, she curled back up in her corner, coughing and trying to shelter herself vainly. The thin Arkham inmate uniform she wore didn't do much to help her either; as bits of dislodged stone hit her they left little cuts in her skin and most certainly future bruises. As the thick dust cloud that had arisen from the explosion of stone slowly cleared, Harley slowly unfurled from her curled up position in the corner and looked at the gaping hole in her wall. She was free? She hesitated for only a moment in disbelief of the sudden event, then her face split into a grin despite her now tattered and slightly bloody uniform.
She leapt to her feet and all but sprinted through the hole in the wall. The first thing she noticed when she got out was that other inmates must have gotten out too. What about Mr. J? she thought suddenly. With an urgency, she turned and ran - away from the entrance and deeper into the ruined asylum - towards Joker's cell. But it was clear that she had no need to free him when she got there. A guard lay dead, and there was a grotesque depiction of Batman in Joker's empty cell. Harley sighed happily at the picture. "My Puddin's such an artist," she murmured to herself admiringly. "And this means he's outta this hellhole! I'm comin', Puddin'! Wait for me!" she yelled in a sudden burst of excitement. She ran for the entrance of Arkham once more, sure that Joker wouldn't leave her behind. Her trainer-clad feet pounded on the stone floors as she ran, the sound echoing somewhat eerily as it bounced off the walls.
As she sprang out of the Asylum for the first time in a long time, Harley swept her blue eyes around eagerly, taking in the mess and destruction. And looking for...
"Mr. J, Mr. J!!" Harley cried joyfully. She knew her Puddin' wouldn't leave her! She hurtled towards him excitedly, and threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around him and squeezing tightly. "I knew ya wouldn't leave me, Puddin'!"
[Edit: O-O Woah. Did I just...how did I...? WHAT? How did I post that long?]

A pair of gray blue eyes flashed out of the darkness as a man moved out of the rubble of the wall. He had a sly smirk on his face as he crossed over a few content bodies of patients, patients he'd probably put there. His grin couldn't stay put as he gave a nod towards a few patients who nodded back as he moved through out the crowd. His eyes, however, spotted a group of rather unruly patients following the Joker, a dark skinned beauty in their clutches. Crane's eyes narrowed and a sneer appeared on his face.
Dr. Joan Leland.
The woman who stole his job.
He let out a small chuckle as he walked by. "Having a fun time with therapy Doctor Leland?"
"CRANE!" Leland saw red as her former, classmate, lover and boss strolled by without a care in the world. She gritted her teeth as the patients moved her along. One gave her a quick shove to the ground. She grunted as she hit the ground.
"Oh c'mon," she groaned, "C'MON." Another patient kicked her again.

"Harley." He drew out her name, voice becoming smooth and eerily sweet. His arms lifted higher so she had glommed onto his torso. "Harley, baby, sugar doll? Get off!" He wedged his arm between her face and his chest and shoved her back. He eyed her, his mood instantly flipped to dark and snarling. "You were supposed to come break me out, Harley. Instead I find out you were slacking in some cell."
He shook his head, sighing loudly. "You didn't even get me that diamond, did yeah Harley? Disappointing."
He said the last part of the word higher pitched, coming out in a mockery. How bored he'd been in Arkham, and it was all her fault. Evidence suggested Joker was only as interested in Harley as she was useful. Whatever affection he was capable of teasing her with, he wasn't using it now.
Joker strode on, cheering up more as he trudged in the rain. He let the wet soak through the outfit, embraced the freezing wet. He shook his head like a rabid dog with prey in it's jowls, not bothering to look behind. His people would follow, which meant the doctor had no choice. And Harley - well where else would she go?
He strode up towards the tank with his small army behind him, cackling as he took in Bane on ground level. "Well if it isn't the Man in the Iron Mask and Princess Polysporin!" He'd normally hang off one of them just to see discomfort, but getting anywhere near either of them was for once as unappetizing to him as it would be to them. He held out an arm to Harley giving her to opportunity to sidle up against him, feeling jovial again. Or it might look that way, to the love crazy crook. For Joker it was more about flaunting assets. "Who would have thought, the whole wall crumbling in one big poof! Crazy huh? Thanks for bringing the welcoming party you two, really - I'm embarrassed."

"Erk! Oof!" These two nonsensical exclamations came from Harley as Joker shoved her away from him and she landed on her rear. "You were supposed to come break me out, Harley. Instead I find out you were slacking in some cell. You didn't even get me that diamond, did yeah Harley? Disappointing." She watched as he walked on, leaving her on the ground, and her bottom lip stuck out like a child just about to cry - and looking at her hurt expression, she looked like she could burst into tears right there and then.
"But...but Puddin'!" she whined, getting to her feet. "I'm sorry! I was gonna getcha that diamond, really, an' break ya out, but Bats came along an'...don't be mad at me, Mr. J!" She brought out her 'puppy eyes' and tailed behind Joker, head slightly down as if she really was a dog trailing guiltily after its master. As he held out his arm to her though, she changed her tune completely in a snap. Squeaking happily, she rushed to his side and accepted his offer of embrace, however genuine or not it was - it was all genuine in her mind. She wrapped her arms around his torso again and snuggled her head against his chest, closing her eyes contentedly. "I'll getcha that diamond, Puddin', I promise," she murmured eagerly.
She had been so fixated on the Joker up until then that she hadn't even noticed Ivy. When she opened her eyes and saw her, she let out another happy squeak. "Hey Red! Ain't this great? We're all gettin' outta this hellhole - finally! And no Bats to stop us!" Ordinarily, she would have rushed to hug her plant-loving best friend too, but right now Mr. J was paying attention to her, and that was important.

Bane looked down at the man and his bizarre little woman. He breathed steadily, and generally looked like he wasn't the least bit phased by their arrival. He had heard of the Joker before, and of course been entirely aware that the man was residing in this prison. Of course, knowing and seeing were entirely different things. The Joker's freedom was something Bane found much agreement in.
Bane was often presumed mad, but he was entirely sound within his mind. The Joker, was the true picture of insanity, which Bane was convinced would cause more fear between the two of them. Joker was unpredictable, and Bane found anxiousness in that he was also unpredictable, but in a more controlled way than the Joker. Again, being sound of mind. Sane, and angry.
"This is false." Bane spoke flatly, his mask shuddering at the sudden rise of his voice. He was referring to Harley's comment that there was no Bats to stop them.
"Our enemy is still very much alive and functioning." he paused to allow the news to simmer, then continued, "They are mobile, but without leader." and quickly dashed out any hopes the Joker may have kindled for Batman being back.
"He left behind forces, and I bid you well in your new found freedom. Gotham will have no place to send its' victims of oppression." he explained. Perhaps that was the exit provided for the Joker, as Bane swept his hand out to allow a departure. But he settled it back on his collar, and continued to star down at the clown.
He had very little reason to believe the Joker would thank him and leave, and likely didn't expect otherwise by the look of calmness in his eyes.

"STOP. STOP IT! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU ALL!?"
Joan had hit the dirt, her face starting to swell from pain. She placed her slender hand to her temple where there was a stream of blood running down from the patients kicking her. Her eyes narrowed angrily up where she could see Crane's twisted look staring down at her. At one point she would have swam in those eyes. Now she was staring up at them as if they were the bloody devil himself.
She stared towards the distance. Where were her more loyal patients? She snorted, trying to call out. "Someone! Help!"
Were any of the bat-people around? As much as Leland disagreed with their approach she sure as hell could have used some help.

Post by Victor "Mr. Freeze" Fries on Feb 10, 2013 20:05:32 GMT -5
((Don't mind me throwing in Freeze, please. ^^ ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) The day started off simple enough, as it often did. Sitting around in his freezing cold cell at the crack of dawn. Not that Victor minded the temperature, in fact, it was preferred to something warmer. Things started getting interesting once the day went on, however, when a familiar voice had reached his ears and the building began to crumble, freeing those at the asylum. The work of Bane. In moments, the cryogenic man had went from being locked up in an ugly suit to being free. Fries hadn't thought about the last time he walked around freely. All he knew was that it had been a long time. He welcomed escape with wide arms. Victor had run out of his broken cell, leaving frozen footprints in his path to search for something he desperately needed. His suit. Once he had thrown aside a few guards - as well as frozen a few - he was able to locate his suit. Good thing for him, probably a bad thing for everyone else. What month was it? January. It was January. January was the middle of winter. Winter was when it was cold. Cold equalled ice, and this was going to work well in Mr. Freeze's favor. Once suited up, he entered the world outside. It was no surprise that he wasn't the first one to get out of the building. Vic wasn't trying to be the first one to taste freedom. Crimson orbs spotted his savior as well as others who joined him in the escape. There was a doctor who was quite loud in her disapproval of what was occurring. He took large yet casual steps over to the little group slowly growing, slowing to a halt once he reached the many inmates, criminals, and the doctor. "Doctor Leland, I think it would be best if you would chill out." Fries spoke with a monotone, a fittingly chilling one at that.

Post by Pamela "Poison Ivy" Isley on Feb 11, 2013 15:11:17 GMT -5
A frown crossed her pale green features, she didn't have any doubt that Bane was being untruthful, but that was only because he'd appealed to her huge ego and that was all it took. But her mind was currently fixed on the obvious fact that The Joker had been and escaped from Arkham Asylum. Knowing for sure that Harley was in the Asylum, she knew that her friend would most likely escape and be searching for that clown.
Then Ivy noticed Bane beginning to propel himself off of the large vehicle which made her brows arch and her feet automatically move to the side, not wanting to be in the way of him hitting the floor, she moved in a way that turned her body, meaning that she was now facing The Joker and Bane, he really was huge. Just as her worry for her friend began to cease, her eyes rested on the face of someone very familiar as they bounced out of the asylum and wrapped her arms around The Joker, Harley. Ivy adjusted her weight onto her right leg, dropping her left hand to her side and now placing her right hand on her hip as she stared at them both, not a word said. Her eyes narrowed dangerously as Harley was pushed away from her lunatic. Her lips moved to form an angry grimace, expressing her disgust as both Joker and his followers moved towards where her and Bane stood, in front of the tank, her expression softened when she noticed Harley looking hurt as she sat on the wet ground, the crazy female not having noticed Ivy yet. She completely ignored the words that came from Joker's mouth.
Though everyone looked a little soaked in the rain, Ivy almost seemed to blossom. In her cell, her skin had felt dry to the touch and her hair had turned to a straw-like texture. But outside, especially in the rain, Ivy blossomed, her skin looked rejuvenated and her hair, although almost soaked through, looked softer and vibrant.
"Hey Red! Ain't this great? We're all gettin' outta this hellhole - finally! And no Bats to stop us!"
Poison Ivy's softened expression morphed into a gentle frown, "Harleen." She replied in greeting, the use of her friend's full name showed the obvious fact that Ivy was annoyed that Harley was still hanging around 'Mr. J'. "I see you're still hanging around that," She gestured to The Joker, "clown." Ivy finished. Having not have answered Harley's question about how great it was that they'd all gotten out of the Asylum, her green-eyed gaze returned to Bane as he spoke. "I'm sure batface and birdbrain plan on sprucing up our little gathering." She commented, her usual, seductive smile returning to her face. Her teeth showed as she smiled wider when Dr. Leland shouted, and she let out a chuckle, and her smile grew even wider when she saw Mr. Freeze, in all his splendour and glory, move out the Asylum and make a chilling comment complete with a cold pun.

"What would I do without my henchgirl?" Joker gave a massive yellow grin at Ivy, enjoying her disgust at the pair. It was hardly a secret Ivy wanted Harley away from him. Perhaps he'd have to do something about that - couldn't have Harley running off again. Who would feed the hyenas?
Joker let out an animated gasp, as if he hadn't heard about the Batman's demise. He remembered the guards murmuring about it outside his cell, one of the few which hadn't found freedom in the great Gotham destabilization. One might have expected jubilation, but Joker had been genuinely dismayed. He saw Batman as paramount to a satisfying breakout. Sure, beating up the bat and bird children was good fun and all, but somehow getting dragged back by Nightwing wouldn't be the same.
"What did you all do to my poor Bats while I was resting?" He looked down to Harley, shaking his head in a way that invited her to join. "You leave these crazies alone for two minutes, and they go and kill the only bit of fun around here."
Though he noticed the cue to leave, this was all simply too much fun to take the exit. Joker let out a little cackle at his captive's outcry, glancing back. "I have an acutely unstable personality, isn't that what you say, Doc?"
Eyes went to Freeze upon the pun. "I think we should leave the jokes to the clowns, don't you?"
He chuckled, looking around them. If the hero family was coming, they did seem to be running behind schedule. "All I ask is a little professionalism. Hmpf, kids today."
Maybe all they needed was a little incentive. Patting Harley's head he moved back around the group, moving towards the only non-villain he'd noticed thus far among them. "Hey, Doc, you always want us to open up don'tcha? Wanna know how I got these scars?"

Bane had remained silent for a long time, looking almost bored at the Joker, but a spark of interest was given when the captive doctor was revealed. He hardly payed Mr. Freeze any attention. The activities of Gotham's finest criminals wasn't Bane's business, he was looking out for his own. No one would miss Dr. Leland, they'd probably assume she was dead in the rubble. One of the many missing bodies to be proclaimed tonight.
It seemed they were enjoying beating on her, tormenting her. Bane showed no such thing as softness in his eyes, but he called out against it.
"Enough." he said, his cold shuddering voice cutting through the rain as the Joker approached her. "I require her. Alive." his tone raised at the end, although this request was obvious.
Bane began walking, closing the distance, vibrating the wet earth with every step he took until he was standing just behind the Joker. Reaching a massive hand down, he rested it on the Joker's back, getting a hand full of his jail suit and plucking him from the ground.
As if he weighed nothing, Bane roughly placed him to the side, safely away from Dr. Leland. She had seen enough horror today. There was no need to obliterate her hope completely. He stared down at her, but when he spoke he seemed to be speaking to the Joker.
"Her knowledge will be beneficial." He deliberately failed to mention why, "She will be accompanying me and my men." he stated, leaving no room for argument. It would be unwise to mistake what Bane had done for the actions of a hero. He had his own agenda entirely.

Harley pursed her lips in another childlike pout at Ivy's words - especially the use of her full name. She loved her best friend like a sister, but like any two people, they had their bad points with each other. She knew Ivy disapproved of her relationship with Mr. J, and was not hesitant to say so, but as close as she was to Ivy she was utterly convinced that Joker loved her as much as she loved him. She raised her head from Joker's chest and flicked her head quickly to one side, flipping her raggedy blonde fringe that was asking for a wash and a trim out of her blue eyes that now held slight defiance which was directed at her red-headed friend. "Yeah," she said, in a matter-of-fact tone. "'Course I'm still with Mr. J!"
Upon hearing her ex-colleague, Joan Leland, cry out from behind them, Harley's eyes flickered wide in alarm for the briefest of moments before she masked it. She turned her head and looked towards Dr. Leland. "Havin' fun there, Joan?" she called in an out of place playful tone, with a grin plastered onto her face. But despite her jeer, she didn't sound so certain of her own words. The grin faded slowly, and she bit her bottom lip as she stared at her former friend.
"What would I do without my henchgirl?" Joker's words brought her attention back to him from Joan, and she faintly squeaked happily again in response to them. She stood, still clung to him like a limpet to a rock, as he conversed briefly before patting her on the head and breaking away from her and walking towards Joan. "Hey, Doc, you always want us to open up don'tcha? Wanna know how I got these scars?" Harley's grin reappeared. "Ooh, Mr. J's such a good storyteller!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands twice.

"NO. NO I DON'T WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU GOT THOSE FUCKING SCARS YOU BATSHIT CRAZY-"
She paused herself when Bane approached. Her mouth shook and quivered as she stared towards the hulking mass of a man. She'd never actually seen him in person when he attacked Gotham the last time. Now there he was. There was that man. She swallowed, tucking her chin down, showing off fear. Crane took an approach towards the group, giving a curt nod to Ivy, Harley and the rest of them before planting a slick smile on Leland. She sneered towards the group.
"All of you," she spat, "All of you just...just walk away. C'mon...we've talked about this...about healing...about...about..." She stepped back, glaring up at Bane.
"What makes you think I'd help you?" She sneered.

Bane looked down at her, after reserving a stare for Crane. Not distaste, or pleasure, just a simple stare. Acknowledgement, in that he'd merely looked at the insane man. Now, with his full attention on the crumbling doctor before him, he exhaled slowly, the tubes of his mask vibrating violently as water poured from his shoulders, dancing down the curves of his face and over his mask.
He seemed unphased by the weather, and definitely not shaken by the doctors words. There was no question in his mind that any of the patients would join hands and make a stand for their beloved doctor. They weren't so stupid.
"So sentimental," he noted, almost sounding although he admired her... compassion, as he chose to see it. "Your plea for help has fallen on deaf ears, you might as well be requesting the rain stop falling.." he gestured up at the sky as he spoke of it.
"Your faithful patients that you have previously referred to are no longer in need of your assistance. They will watch, as the very person who tried to make them whole crumbles under their own righteousness." he shook his head, looking down at her as the corners of his eyes crinkled and he remarked "What a pity..."
"What makes you think I'd help you?"
His head shifted, sharply, but barely enough to call it a tilt.
"I will put a man before you, broken and unstable asking for help. And you will give him aid." Bane explained confidently, putting grim emphasis on 'broken' and 'unstable' so she could derive her own images from it. "It is in your nature." he added surely, voice reverberating from his mask.

She frowned, pursing her lips and staring her dark brown orbs towards the hulking man. He was right. She didn't want to admit it but not only her hypocratic oath but her own integrity which would cause her to help. Her eyes narrowed darkly as the rain poured. She was suddenly aware of it now, falling in drops off Bane's body, folding into the cloth of Crane's Arkham issues pajama set and causing her hair to begin to frizz and curl. A vainer woman would have freaked out but Joan wasn't quite ready to be concerned with the makeup running down her face and her hair curling. Her brown orbs rolled up towards Bane looking dark and cryptic. She stayed silent briefly before dipping her head in a nod.
"Alright," she mumbled, "But only on the term that you don't harm me."
"And she gets a blow drier and a flat iron," Crane snickered, "I know how fussy she gets about her hair."
"Crane, if you don't shut the FUCK up..." She peered at Bane. "I'm going to help. Not because you're threatening me but because you're right. I can't say no. But I have one additional request. That I don't see HIM anywhere near me!"

"Batshit?" Joker cackled as he crouched, waving the blade back and forth in front of Leland. "That's a strange thing to say, Doc! Head outta the sewer gutters. Does Batsy have insane s-"
But then he was plucked from his place, and set like an uncooperative doll. Puffing his chest up Joker scowled at Bane, sticking his tongue out as the masked mercenary faced his doctor. His captive. His toy.
"You people are such a buzz kill." Joker sighed, folding his arms in a pouty sort of way. But he was listening, taking to mind all Bane had to say. Useful? Hell, the Doc hadn't been able to fix any of them, so Joker doubted it had anything to do with her psychiatric abilities. Still, no need to let Bane know he cared.
"Aw, big guy, your reaching out!" Joker moved forward, grabbing at Bane's arm as if he was going to hug it. Not like he could fit his arms around the leviathan's chest. He lay his head against Bane, smiling up at him. "She's a good listener, our Doc. She'll set you right in no time - get you over all the trauma of your first failure with that other girl. What was her name again?" He looked Harley's way, as if he couldn't actually remember.
Oh yes, Joker was very aware of the details of Bane's glorious uprising.
