He was hardly paying attention to the girl with her shadow tricks, too intent on the small member of the Bat Family before him. She was the real threat. A speedy little creature. It happened fast, but Bane was ready, despite the smoke bomb thrown to his face. The leg came up to his face, but before it could connect, his hand caught her leg, grip tightening on her ankle.
He worked with the momentum, but hardly needed it with the strength he had. Turning quickly, the Batgirl still in hand, he swung her, throwing her towards a few empty barrels near a brick wall. Once he had discarded of her initial attack, he began walking towards her until he was about two meters away, his foot steps loud and heavy.
"I am the league of shadows...." he hissed. "You and your kin" he chose the word scornfully, before switching to a sickly cold, and mockery sweet tone "A hand full of bats in the night." although he were telling a story. But then he lost the mock tones for something much more vicious.
"I am the true night!" he snarled, a muffled popping sound and the mask amplified his voice in a mechanical sort of way, the tubes ringing when he was done. It was like he was yelling, but hadn't lost it. A controlled anger, which was slightly more terrifying than a complete rage.

Why was he here again? Bruce's brow furrows downward as he glares at the map he held in his hand. Right, he went to the library! At least, that had been the plan, and it was a slight success seeing how the gamma doctor had gotten there and did some light reading. But now? Now the dark haired doctor was completely lost
"Damn," he curses, which came out more like a sigh his light footsteps treaded across the sidewalk as he makes his way towards the riverside. At least, he's praying it's the right way. That's when he heard the commotion Bruce peers around the corner to spot the small group. The dilemma now was: Should he help? The girl in the cape kinda looked like she was handling it...kinda.

Apart from the loud suck in of air right before she collided with the metal oil drums, Stephanie didn't make a noise until the metal buckled under her, pain flooding through her body as she smashed her back into them then rolled onto the ground landing on her stomach. She pushed herself up, groaning as he came closer. Ah, great, the bragging stage.
No. That’s when she got her first prickle of chill. This wasn't him indulging in his pride. Bane wasn't being arrogant – this was him stating what he saw to be fact. She wasn't fighting with a cocky supervillian who would trip up by being overconfident.
As much as she hated it, she’d screwed up, and not in the basic – wow, this guy is strong and this is going to hurt to win. This man wouldn't blink before snapping her neck. And he would forget her afterward – she wasn't even significant enough to him be a death he’d savor. She needed to get those girls out, and then she needed to find someone who could help her. This wasn't a one gal job.
“Funny thing about night, though. It always ends.”
She didn't have reloads for the gauntlets – Cassandra had access to the Batcave when she was Batgirl, so that wasn't a problem. But somehow the sacrifice wasn't one Stephanie begrudged. She raised the gauntlet and let to spikes fly. Who knew if they landed right? She was too busy getting herself away from the wall which was in no way going to help her in this fight.
“Now would be the time to leave!” She called to the girls. As soon as they were gone, she could be, and she had no desire to stick around with Darth Vader. She dodged to the side, and this time went for a crack at his back. Survival needs were driving her speed back up – hit and dodge was the plan. There would be no pulverizing of Bane today. Or ever, probably, unless she employed a wrecking ball.

He hardly moved when she did, didn't so much as bat an eye at her comments, or even try to stop any of them from leaving. Bane wasn't entirely a hostage sort of man, not if it drew in too much attention. The thing about hostages, was that you only took them if you wanted your enemies to come running to your doorstep. That was not in his foreseeable plans.
When she fired the spikes on her gauntlets at him he deflected them from his body well enough using his forearms, but they left slits in his jacket, and perhaps manages to cut his skin beneath. This had left him open to her quick dodge and the contact had landed on his back. He stumbled forward, but otherwise didn't move to attack her back, besides turning, and readying himself should she attempt another strike.
He finally addressed her earlier statement.
"You seek my weakness by renouncing the night that also aids you," his mask rattled against his breathe, "But I am not so easily diminished. Built by the very thing you've based your acts upon, and enhanced by the end of night. I am here to take that from you, Light was a luxury we starved for." perhaps it was the mask that set such a hoarseness in his voice.
He placed his hands on his collar, leaning back, his shoulders squared. Bane wasn't fighting Batgirl, and the choice was entirely hers if she were to persist.
"Something so simple" there was that hissing lower tone again, "It doesn't seem fair." and his voice raised for a higher octave that time, that odd 'musical' shift.

"Not for me..." Horror whispered in response to Batgirl's claim that night always ended. Her amber orbs traveled to Bane, narrowing intensely. The intelligent way he spoke; there was more in there than just muscle and an ugly mask.
"I am here to take that from you, Light was a luxury we starved for."
She snorted. This wasn't her fight and the Batgirl had taken away any information she was going to grab from Bane about any impending attacks on the city. She dug her boots into the dust. She was done there. Heaven help that kid; that was NOT her problem. Horror was a hero but didn't want to save anyone who didn't want to be saved. She'd told the brat to move and she hadn't. So she'd have to be on her own.
No loyalties except maybe to SHIELD and then it was just passing information. The walking half-corpse refused to battle with the darkness when it had eaten her a long time ago. What was supposed to happen? Would a true hero rush in stupidly and help the Batgirl? If that made a true hero than Horror was well bellow the mark of a true hero.
She she turned on her heels. She didn't run, she sort of just floated off into the darkness.
Farewell handsome. We'll meet again, I'm sure
(Horror's left the thread.)

Well at least one of the girls had the sense to haul ass out of there. Stephanie shook her head, eyeing Bane. The blow had landed, but it was like punching concrete - and he barely even stumbled. She made a mental note to invest her limited cash-flow in the direction of a construction company - maybe if she chained him up and rolled over him a couple times.
"Seriously lady?" She hissed, looking at the other girl. It was clear Bane wasn't interested in her today - huh, imagine that, no muse for back breaking? She was reckless, but not stupid. She didn't have a chance if she kept fighting - solo, exhausted, lacking weapons of mass destruction. She was trying to beat the stuff of legends when she was as prepped as a couch potato.
"Okay, someone's been taking in too much flower smoke." She knew the vague outline of the league, mostly from complaining and nagging at Dick until he'd given her a morsel of a clue. "Time flies, Vadar. I'll tell Bats you say hi."
She'd try her best to get past him, going right for the civilian. Provided she didn't try to run away, or start beating at Stephanie, she'd grab her and fire the grappling hook. If the girl was too freaked to run, she'd do it for the both of them.

"This way!" Bruce called out to the young woman once he heard Stephanie tell her that it would be a good time to leave. The other woman had the idea as she disappeared from his line of sight, to who knows where. The good doctor wonders if he will regret the fact that he anounced his presence to the giant. Hopefully he wouldn't take notice.

Tara was told to get out of Dodge. A good soldier obeyed orders, no matter who was the commanding officer. A good soldier also faced fear, right? They had to endure it everyday, with every waking hour. Tara hadn't obeyed her orders. She wasn't an actual soldier, at least not yet, but still she had deliberately disobeyed an older person than herself. She wanted to see how this fight would play out. She took mental notes on some of the moves, assuming that the large male had no interest in her to bring her harm. He was an intimidating figure, yes, but he seemed to have given her permission to stay or go. Besides, she needed to witness what he could really do. Why? Because... Tara wasn't sure why. She was terrified, yet interested by the man at the same time. The same went for the girl in uniform, though Tara felt more admiration for her then anything.
Voices telling her to go finally snapped her out of some odd trance in watching fighting occur. Where? Go where? Aqua eyes looked over at Banner, then at Stephanie. Her heart was pounding. Where was she supposed to go? She hadn't a clue as to where she was, and she felt like a deer staring at headlights.
Going to get hit in any second.

Well, if could have gone worse considering Bruce's first fight with Bane landed him in a pit-prison-hospital. So good news - her neck, back, and body was blissfully intact. Bad news, she looked like a ninny running from Bane with girl genius in an arm.
She swung them up onto the roof of the nearest store, only a single story so less work getting them enough momentum to land there. She released the girl as soon as they hit, wheeling round as she heard the male voice urging them to follow. Her shoulders slumped, and for a moment all she could do was stare. Ah, that's why these people didn't realize one does not simply approach the masked man at night time. No Gothamite, no matter how suicidal, would approach Bane. These had to be New Yorkers. "Okay kids! No more playing with the Gotham Supervillians!"
"You!" She pointed at the man on the ground. "Get out of here or so help me I will knock out gas all of you!"
"You!" She jabbed a finger in the direction of the girl. "We are getting you to your house, which you are never leaving again at night. Seriously people, this is the man who broke the Bat. Tourist are asked to remain inside the safari vehicle and clear the Gotham streets by sundown!"
"And you!" She waved her hand at Bane. "Whatever your doing back in Gotham, it's going to fail. There's a lot more of us now, and we'll all be coming after you. I know a kid who's itching to kick your ass. Bring all the mercs you want - we're the freaking Bat Family. And in case you missed it, we're the ones who bring you into Arkham in the fancy white coat."

For a split moment, Bane's attention was captured by the young woman who had stayed. Had he not dismissed her earlier? She should have left, that much was very evident. He watched, hands still resting on the buckles of his padded armor, as Batgirl swooped in, grabbed the girl and grappled them to another surface.
His breathing was steady, cold eyes unwavering as she turned and delivered a speech to each of them, saving Bane's for last. The noise in his mask churned and wheezed somewhat; perhaps he was chuckling.
"How honorable." he remarked dryly, without even a shred of anticipation.

The skull-headed lady remained standing where she was, even when yet another female appeared, apparently already aquainted with this interesting fellow. Shrew didn't want to get in the middle of that so she took a quick step away, leaning her shoulder on a nearby surface. Pale blue eyes gazed out from black sockets. It looked like she wasn't going to be noticed with all this conflict going about, which was just as good because Shrew didn't feel like getting in a fight. Folding her arms, she watched as the brief scuffle played out. She wasn't going to interfere. The bounty hunter knew that eventually, someone would win or somone would leave. The only thing keeping her around was the prospect of yet one person - it didn't matter to her who - would be left alone after the whole thing was over. That was her chance to play off the tensions and perhaps strike some sort of deal. It was clear the animosity in the place was running high, and Shrew knew that sometimes grudges are held. Perhaps her services could be put to use. And if she was asked to off any of them, it wouldn't hurt now to see how they thought. The Shrew didn't have a job in a while. The opportunity was too good to turn away from.
The creature's massive tail twitched a bit behind her. She brought her hand up once again and began to run a jerkified finger pad along the sharp blade on her wrist.

"Ye-Yes Ma'am," Bruce stutters out, brown eyes flicking over to Bane, watching him for any signs that he had noticed him. Movement caugh the doctor's attention out of the corner of his eye he spots Shrew. Bruce could only stare at the creature. Even Hulk remained quiet in his skull.
"What is that?" His voice goes up a pitch as turns to look at Stephanie wondering if she saw it.

One moment, Tara was a deer staring into headlights. The next, she was standing on top of a roof listening to the blonde rant about each person still at the scene, save for the dog-headed female. When the speech was directed at her, Tara was perplexed. Broke the Bat? Baseball bat? For just a moment, Tara was dumbfounded. Then she realized that her rescuer must have meant a person. The Bat Family motif around these parts. Right. Not being in the know about what was going on in Gotham certainly had it's toll on Tara on this evening. An intimidating male approached her and a girl roughly around her age had rescued her, though now she was getting a wonderful lecture. Her attitude gave her a slight reminder of herself.
For once, Tara was speechless. The blonde that had helped her was telling off everyone. Wasn't that her job? Tara was usually the one to correct everyone. Then again, that was back in Boston. This was Gotham. Clearly, things ran differently here. Hoping to just go home, Sullivan finally spoke up. "Yeah, I'm sure you'd love to stay and chat with everyone here, but you mentioned something about taking me home? That would be great if you could do that," she said, hoping to get an escort back to New York.
