(January 14. Open to all Xavier students.)
Kevin let out a breath of hair upwards to chase away his fluffy hair from his face. He returned his pencil to his sketchbook, green orbs flashing towards the half done tower he'd started sketching. He shaded a few areas, added a few parts to the building he was planning on building later out of whatever metal scraps he could find. Kevin was an artist first and foremost. Though the youth didn't see it that way. For him, he was a killer first. A killer and that was it.
Kevin pushed his hair back with his gloved hand as he looked about the lunchroom. Alone. He was ALWAYS alone.
Fun times, isn't it?

Blonde girl skirted through the lunchroom, blue orbs fixated on the ground. Hurriedly, she weaved her way around people, desperate to be in and out of the area as quickly as possible. With her powers so unstable, Laurie despised being around other people, especially other mutants, as most of her fellow students knew of her power. Besides, she didn't want these people to like her. Well, she did. She enjoyed being liked, but the girl wanted to be liked for real. She didn't want it to be some illusion. She didn't want to force these people into liking her.
Quickly grabbing a lunch, Laurie scurried over to a table that appeared to be remotely empty- save for one boy sitting at it. But he didn't seem to be paying much attention to her. Hopefully it would stay that way.
Sitting down at the far edge of the table, the blonde quickly got to eating her lunch, keeping her eyes down. She wished she had the ability to turn invisible. That would be nice. Then she could just be completely alone. Without worrying about anyone being bothered by her or her power.
Completely and utterly alone.
Boy, did that sound nice.

Kevin stared down at his meal finally and sneered. "C'mon now," he whispered, "This is just...gross." He ran his fingers through his thick hair, lifting up and looking about. He placed his pencil to the pad again before doing a double take. There was a newcomer at his table. He tilted his head to the side slightly before looking back at the pad then back at Laurie. She was cute, for sure, but she also looked rather lonely. He blinked a few times before shrugging and sliding over. It wasn't like he was going to touch her. Plus she DIDN'T need to know about what his powers were.
"Hey there," Kevin said with a nod, "What's that you're eating?" He'd grabbed his notebook and continued absentmindedly sketching on the blank portion of the paper.

Alec entered the lunchroom, gazing over the other students. Alec was in less than glittering mood, and his personality was vaguely reflective at the best of times. He'd just got off the phone with his father, receiving a very interesting lecture on visiting Gotham. It was a good thing Alec's powers didn't work over electronics, or her might have been tempted to get the old man to throttle himself.
He went over, plucking up a tray of food. His stride halted as he looked down at the questionably edible substances before him. Less than a year ago, he'd been dinning on apple liqueur crepes Champs-Élysées. Oh how the mighty had fallen.
He needed something to distract himself from his own tragedy - the two sitting at their own table seemed as easy a target as any. Besides, he'd rather limit is association with the various other 'students' of the institute, clustered at all the other tables like hives. He was only here until his mother cooled off, realized how hard a thing she'd asked, and let him return to unnecessary freeloading.
Slapping on his most charismatic smile, Alec made his way over to the table. He didn't ask if he could join, letting his platter drop with a clatter on the table beside the girls. He sat down, sitting just close enough for it to be abnormal. Ignoring the guy entirely, he turned to the girl. "Hello, how are you today?"

Prodding at her applesauce with her plastic spork, realizing only moments after sitting that she wasn't hungry whatsoever. Sighing, Laurie let her spork hit the tray with a soft clang. Blonde hair curtaining her face, she rested her hands in her lap, twiddling her thumbs as she stared down. At the sound of a voice, though, her blue orbs flickered up, only for them to grow wide upon seeing a boy sitting in front of her. The fact that it was a boy didn't worry her as much as the fact that he was sitting remotely near her. And talking to her.
She didn't want to hurt him.
Curtaining her face with her hair once again, she stared down at her lap, mentally willing for him to go away. "Oh, it's uh, a sandwich," She mumbled, slightly nodding her head towards her lunch tray, "And applesauce," Laurie finished lamely, glancing up at him once more. It looked like he was... Drawing something? She longed to ask what exactly he was drawing, but held her tongue.
She didn't want to hurt him.
Yelping inwardly as another boy sat down next to her, far too close for her comfort, she clenched her eyes tight. Not another person. Not another person that she was unwillingly abusing. Letting out a ragged breath, she looked over at the blonde boy next to her, sliding over as much as she could without falling off the bench. "Fine, thank you." Blonde's voice was hardly above a whisper, head slightly hung as she longed for the two to leave.
She didn't want to hurt them.[/u]

This girl had tension you could couldn't cut through with a chainsaw. Alec's brows raised as she moved as far off as possible, frowning slightly. Not the reaction he was going for - not one he hardly ever got, from people who didn't know him.
"Glad to hear it. You look peachy." He said, trying to chip at some of that high strung intensity.
He turned his gaze to the other boy, scribbling. No, drawing. "How about you Picasso, any breakthroughs in the world of art?"

Kevin would have replied. Heck he probably would have said more than glare evilly. Had this kid not slid up beside the girl before him. The insecure youth gripped the pencil rather tightly as the boy rather blatantly flirted with Laurie. Kevin had just met the girl, sort of, and he could kind of tell she was uncomfortable. "Wow, way to interrupt a conversation there, pal," Kevin said, raising his eyebrows over green eyes, finally releasing his death grip on his number two pencil.
Kevin leaned back and let out a rather exhausted breath. "Not sure if you meant that as a serious question or if me just being here is cramping your style," he said, rolling his eyes. He absentmindedly pulled at the synthetic materials on his gloves. His tone was cheeky. It was a way to hide. Hide from the outside world and from those who'd discover what was hiding under the gloves.
Death.

A wave of fear rolled off of Laurie as the blonde boy turned his attention to the one who had been drawing. Although, she didn't have much time to feel any better. Swallowing hard, she allowed her blue orbs to wander up to the boy who was drawing. It was sure brave of him to say that, especially since the blonde seemed like he was one of the... Well, popular kids. He acted like it and looked like it. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck, right? But, if he was popular, then why was he sitting with them, of all people.
No offense to the drawing boy, but it seemed to be a valid question.
Holding her tongue, Laurie straightened out ever so slightly, longing to catch a glimpse of what he had been drawing. It looked like some kind of building. A half-done tower or something like that. And it wasn't too bad either, he seemed like a pretty good artist.
It was then that the blonde noticed his gloves. A good handful of kids around here had to wear protective body armour, sometimes to protect themselves, other times to protect others. Whatever the case, Laurie was curious. But again, she held her tongue, only throwing a final sideways glance at the blonde before rising from her seat. Lifting her tray, she readied herself to walk away, but simply couldn't. She couldn't leave the artist alone with this other guy. So it was after taking a deep breath that she sat down on the opposite side of the table, next to the draw-er.
Offering him a small smile, she placed her tray back down then continued to prod and poke at her applesauce, staring at it enthusiastically.

Popular. Yep, within these sanctified halls Alec was an absolute celebrity. That's why he had to break out for fun, and eat his lunch with people who literally couldn't stand to be near him. It was a new experience for Alec, being a pariah. He did it to himself, no question, there were plenty of people willing to give him a chance.
He just hated the idea of settling in. It made this whole arrangement feel much too... permanent.
"Well she didn't seem to be enjoying herself too much. She's nervous... scared." Alec tilted his head, trying to focus on the girls emotions reverberating from the other side of the table. "No need to be so... hostile."
He gave his biggest, 'I'm-an-arrogant-shit-deal-with-it' smile towards the boy. "It was a simple question, just trying to defuse some of the tension."

"There was no tension," Kevin said, leaning back on his chair casually. Before you showed up, you grade A asshat, he thought to himself, emerald eyes narrowing softly but a firm smile still plastered to his face. While Alec's said 'I'm arrogant-deal with it' Kevin's said 'I'll deal with it alright-straight to the morgue.' The youth turned his eyes towards the girl who moved next to him. Ha ha. His eyes flicked up again towards Alec, eyes downwards in a cold smile. The two had barely known each other for two seconds and already they were in a pissing contest.
"I'm Kevin Ford," he said darkly, mostly to the girl however, "They call me Wither." His eyes tightened evilly at the mention of his codename. "And you are?" They then softened as they turned towards Laurie.

Serena kept her head down as she made her way through the cafeteria. She wasn't someone who wanted to receive attention. Ever since she found out she was a mutant, she had gotten quiet. She didn't socialize as much nowadays. There was the occasional conversation, a nod, or a wave, but not much beyond that. Today, she searched for somewhere to sit on her own.
She left her arms exposed by wearing a short-sleeved hoodie over a short-sleeved shirt. If there was something she was always going to be open about, it was going to be her tattoos. Now she was a bit regretful about that choice. She would have preferred a long-sleeved jacket now. Not everyone needed to see the marks on her skin. Serena realized that too late.
She searched for an empty table without any luck. It appeared she would have to toughen up and talk about the disturbing cafeteria food with someone. The closest table nearby already had three kids at it. She gripped her tray tightly, exhaling an irritated sigh. The blue eyed femme took a seat there, hoping she let off some sort of energy that said 'I'd rather not talk' when she sat down.
Her dark coated eyes stared at her meal. She had just sat down right after one of the males said his name. She stared at the food, not bothering to introduce herself. They probably weren't going to take much notice to her anyway. The guys would probably be far more interested in talking to a pretty blonde rather than 'that chick with the tattoos' anyway.

Hmm, this kid was all too easy to wind up. Wither seemed to have what Alec liked to call a 'Lancelot Complex'. The guys who stood up for shy girls Alec enjoyed hitting on for kicks. He didn't see any harm in being complementary to shy girls - everyone deserved to be noticed. Hell, by his reckoning he was being a good person. He certainly enjoyed being appreciated.
"Wither," Alec repeated, his smile thinning. "Not so good with gardening, then."
Eyes flickered to the other girl as she sat down. Quite the littler party they were having - Daddy-Didn't-Love-Me, Elle Ignore-Me, and now Dances With Pointy things. It wasn't a good day for Alec to be out and about - his father had wound him up rather badly for his role in the football fiasco. So he really wasn't feeling the like conceding to the Knight of Dead Flowers.
So he turned his attention very deliberately to the new girl with a welcoming glow. "Hey there, can I impose on you? Will you settle a disagreement for us? Which of us would you prefer to eat lunch with, me, or Wither here?" He gestured with his chin at Kevin.

In a surprising turn of events, apparently one of the males actually did bother to talk to her. She raised a single eyebrow at the dirty blonde, a minor scowl on her face. She figured he was the least likely of them to bother to speak with her, besides the other girl. She was disappointed that she didn't look extremely threatening, unlike other students she had met before, man and mutant alike. Her attention was turned away from her lunch of the day at least. That was something positive.
She scoffed at the male who spoke to her. "I honestly could not care less about who I sit next to," she said, venom laced in her words. He was looking a bit too fancy for Serena. There was something about him that she didn't like already. She couldn't tell what. That charisma he seemingly had as opposed to her anti-social-like tendencies, the clothing, the fact that he spoke to her, she couldn't determine why she wasn't so sure she was going to be able to tolerate him. Serena generally wasn't fond of anyone unless they talked about something she found appealing.
Talking about sitting next to Mr. Fabulous or Mr. Death-Touch didn't sound very appealing to her.
"I'd rather sit next to empty seat number one, empty seat number two, and empty seat number three. Seeing as how that's not an option, it looks like I get the best of both worlds, don't I?" She gave a fake smile before rolling her eyes, focusing back on her meal. For a brief time, she considered actually trying to lighten up to these people. It would distract her from whatever was on her tray, anyway. That didn't sound like too bad of an idea.
Then again, she probably already ruined whatever chance she had to be friendly with this odd little group.

"Man, fuck you."
Kevin gave a sneer towards the youth and returned to his drawing and his food. That was it for him. There was a reason he didn't talk to anyone in the lunchroom and this jerk was it. He grumbled and dug his fork into the macaroni and cheese which was on the tray. He barely registered what the girl was saying though it sounded negative. His eyes narrowed darkly. He could have gotten up but he'd just have more jerks to sit with. So he stayed put. He said nothing.

(*waltzes back in* Sorry for the wait xP)
Blinking, Laurie's blue eyes flitted back up to Alex, her eyebrows raising as he spoke of her emotions. Had she not been in a school surrounded by people with unknown powers she would have been surprised. Of course, the idea of someone else having emotion-sensing-or-triggering powers wasn't to unrealistic, and almost comforting to the blonde-haired girl. Of course, she refused to let the arrogant blonde across from her know that.
Turning her head, she couldn't help but feel slightly bad for the boy next to her. This blonde guy was being such a jerk to him... Offering the boy next to her a smile, she brushed her blonde locks from her eyes so she could see him fully. "I'm Laurie," She offered, feigning a comfortable persona for a few moments to exile Alex's ideas of it having been previously awkward. No, this boy, Wither, he was nice.
And it was that thought that brought her to drop her head again. The girl didn't want to hurt him or effect him with her un-controllable power. Of course, she silently welcomed the newcomer, as she was a distraction from her own freaky self. Tilting her head, Laurie looked the brunette up and down, longing to shift away from her. She had to admit, all of those tattoos made her look slightly frightening. The only thing that stopped her was that she knew all too well what it was like to be judged. Besides, if she shifted away from the brunette, she would be shifting even closer to Wither.
Laurie smiled, raising her hand to wave to the new girl, but froze, dropping her hand back down into her lap at her words of having preferred to sit alone. I didn't even say anything and she would rather sit by herself. You are great company, Laurie, The blue-eyed girl sighed inwardly, twiddling her thumbs before glancing back up at Alex. "I would rather sit with Wither," She mumbled, tossing a sideways glance in Wither's direction before poking her applesauce again.
