(January 3rd. Open to just Sofia & Laurie.)
Sofia was excited. She'd pulled up in a cab an hour ago to the start of her new life. The slender girl had met with Xavier before being shown to her room by another student. Room 616 on the third floor. The mansion was so large Sofia wondered aloud how people did not get lost. The student had laughed and said it took some getting used to. He dropped the pretty girl off after asking what she was doing later. Sofia had frowned and waved him off. She had a mission and it was to get to know the school.
And possibly her new roommate.
Sofia was told she and this 'Laurie' would be a perfect match with their powers. That seemed to be all this headmaster was worried about. Sofia just hoped the girl was kind. She did not like mean people and would probably put this Laurie in her place if she were even the slightest bit of cruel to her. But Sofia was optimistic.
She reached the door and could not help but grin wildly at the plates on the door. One read "Laurie Collins" while the other read "Sofia Mantega." Sofia breathed in deeply and turned the golden doorknob without knocking.
"Hello?" She said brightly, hoping Laurie would answer before she fully entered.

Professor Xavier said that this roommate would be different. He said that she would like this new girl. He said that they would be great for eachother.
Laurie knew it was a lie.
She would never be able to be around people with her power. Not until she learned to control it. And that obviously wasn't happening anytime soon. The blonde had been at the institution for a couple of months now, and had no progress whatsoever on controlling her power. But she really hadn't had any progress with... Anything. No roommate, no control over her power, for God's sake, she didn't even have any friends.
She had gone through, what? Near twenty roommates, at least. Or at least that was what it seemed like. Nothing was working. Laurie just wanted to be done. She wanted to go home, to be with her mom; the one person who's reactions she could truly trust.
Although the sound of the wooden door sliding open and an unfamiliar voice brought Laurie to turn her head just enough to see her newest roommate entering. "Hi," She mumbled, turning her head back to the papers on her desk. "Make yourself at home, sorry it's so messy," The blonde quickly added, pretending to busy herself with writing something on a blank paper. The sooner this was over, the better.

"Oh! I do not mind!"
Sofia smiled at the long haired lass before letting herself in. She stared at the room, standing just inside the doorway. She looked at the blank bed beside the bedside table. The room was very bare. But she would soon fix that. She threw her suitcases up on the mattress. She opened them and looked about before turning back to Laurie with a bright smile.
"My name is Sofia Mantega," she said, leaning forward on her flat shoes, "You must be Laurie, yes? What a lovely room you have here!"

Forcing a smile, Laurie rose from her chair and headed to the one window - which resided on her side of the room. Pulling the shade, her eyelids fluttered for a moment before she hesitantly turned back to her new roommate. "Yeah, Laurie Collins," The blonde nodded before shuffling towards her bed, where she quickly picked up her crumpled pajamas and tossed them into a small bin. "Nice to meet you, Sofia," She mumbled before returning to her chair, sitting down almost hurriedly.
Shuffling through the papers, she pretended to busy herself in attempting to find one in particular. Tossing a sideways glance at Sofia, she raised an eyebrow, still confused as to why Professor Xavier thought that they would be good roommates. She didn't seem very special. Not much different than her past roommates, that is.

Sofia beamed. Laurie seemed nice but rather shy. Just like the blandness of the room Sofia would soon fix that. She kept her smile opening her suitcase full of linens. She pulled out a bright yellow fitted sheet and some pink sheets. Next came a beautiful comforter with pink and yellows swirling together. "I had to pick up a few things before coming here," Sofia explained, shaking out the sheets, "Professor Xavier was very kind to give me some money to buy some things. I had clothing already." Her Spanish accent laced voice hummed on the air.
She turned to face Laurie as she unfolded her clothing onto the mattress. "Do you like to dance, Laurie?" She asked brightly.

Throwing a sideways glance in the direction of Sofia, she couldn't help but think of how pretty the sheets were. Laurie had just brought her boring pale yellow sheets and yellow plaid-styled comforter from home. She couldn't help but be slightly envious of her new roommate's sheets, despite how silly the idea was. And the fact that, in a few days, the sheets would be gone along with Sofia. "Mmh, Professor Xavier is very kind," The blonde mumbled, scrawling illegible words onto the papers before herself.
Laurie was caught of guard by Sofia's next question, though. She was actually caught of guard by her new roommate's new demeanor. By now most of her roomates would have already lost interest in her and have headed out to explore or attempt to make more worthy friends that actually talked. Dropping her pencil, she shuffled her hands, unsure of what to say. "I kind of can, I guess. I don't really dance much, though..." She finally answered, speaking slowly and choosing her words carefully, as if her life depended on it. "Why?"

"I enjoy dancing," she proclaimed, sitting on her bed, leaning forward with her palms cupped over the side of the bed, "It is one of my favorite things to do!"
Sofia shrugged. "This is a friendly thing to do is it not? To ask questions of those you wish to get along with. We should be friends if we are to live together should we not?" Sofia had to admit she was puzzled. She'd dealt with shy people before but Laurie was painfully shy. She tilted her head to the side and lifted her hand.
"You should not hide your face so," she said, blowing a gentle gust of wind to Laurie's face and blowing back her hair, "There we go!"
She looked about. "I cannot believe you had this room all to yourself!"
