Kevin's green orbs blazed. Before he was sympathetic, then frustrated, now he was just angry. He turned his head away. "It's not your fault though," he hissed, "You can't control it. You can't stop yourself." Kevin lifted his hands and shut his eyes tightly. He didn't want to talk about it anymore. Didn't want to hear about anything. Not the screams, not the whispers, not the jeers. Kevin didn't want anything to do with it. Death. That was all he was, wasn't he? The death touch kid. The kid with the kiss of death.
"Fuck." Kevin ran his fingers through his hair, letting out a breath of frustrated air. "I need some goddamn air." He peered at Jakkie for a few minutes before shaking his head. "I'm sorry I'm such a bastard," he mumbled before stepping out of the room and towards the courtyard doors.

She looked up at him sharply, her own red eyes quite angry as he spoke. She couldn't control it... That much was true. But to an extent, she could have more control over her mutation than he could. If she wasn't so angry all the time... How many lives could she have saved by monitoring herself better? If she'd been less careless, or seen when people were trying to piss her off.
She was trying how best to respond when he cursed a couple times, and she was instead faced with his back. Leaving. Now she was really pissed. Narrowing her eyes, she followed after him. Just before he'd reached the door, she launched her balled up fist at his shoulder in a firm punch. It was strong, but it wasn't like she was trying to leave him disabled in any way.
If he turned around, he'd find her standing with her clenched hands at her sides, glaring up at him with a set jaw looking sufficiently annoyed.
"Oh my god." she'd hiss, "Look. I made contact with you. And I'm not fucking dead." she became more fierce towards the end.
Jakkie had few things she excelled in. Making a point, was possibly not one of them.

"OW!"
Kevin's eyes widened, surprised as he turned to see the fuming female before him. His own eyes narrowed. Jakkie'd probably found a boy after her own heart, a boy just as stubborn as she was. His own clenched jaw gave way as his hand lowered from his shoulder which was dying down from the abrupt pain. He was in front of the half open door, the winter wind whipping through making his hair fly in a few different directions, the bottom of his robe billow. He now looked angry as his green orbs shot daggers at the girl.
"That's NOT what I want!" He barked, holding his hands as close to her as he dared which was a few inches from his fingertips to her face, "Don't you get it?! Don't you understand?! I can't-I can never-" He couldn't admit it to this tough girl here. Not that he feared the hunger of his power to use it. His eyes tightened shut as he breathed out an angered and annoyed breath of air as if he was trying to calm himself down.
"LOOK! Why don't you just go like someone who can actually give you what you want? I can't do that! I can't do anything for anyone!" His eyes closed as his voice faltered. No more apologies, just the heartfelt words hanging on the air.
"You can't like me..." He muttered. "I don't believe you."

She held her stubborn glare in return to his, glancing at his fingers as he held them up to her face. Wary, but not afraid. She didn't react the whole time he spoke. Not until the very end, in which she narrowed her eyes at him further and scrunched up her nose.
"People like me don't work like that." she growled lowly. It was the truth, he couldn't have her there, ask for her to stay when she talked about leaving, and then turn around and act all stand-offish with her. It wasn't fair. She understood his problem... She was more accepting of it than he seemed to be even.
But someone who could give her what she wanted? She almost could have laughed, if not for the last words he'd said. He really didn't want to believe her... and that annoyed Jakkie. If she didn't like him, she wouldn't still be there, wouldn't be wasting her time. It was a concept she was just beginning to fully accept herself.
Jakkie knocked his hands from the air with gentle bumps to his wrists so she could tilt her head to better look at his face that had dipped downward with the faltering in his voice. Nothing she could say was going to fully convince him. Maybe nothing she could ever do would convince him, but Jakkie was a lost cause herself, so she could kind of accept that.
She was quick, but not in an attacking, threatening sort of way when she'd done it. Slipping up to close the distance completely between her and him, wrapping her arms around his back and resting her head on his chest, a safe distance from any bare skin.
It was reckless, but careful at the same time. Her arms were steady, holding him tightly in case he tried to pull away, he'd find she was quite securely wrapped around him. Regardless, she was ready for the sting that was rejection, in him trying to tug away from her contact.

"Oh yeah?"
Kevin turned his head, a slick smirk covering his pain. "And what kind of person are you Jakkie?"
His answer was the pressure of her body against his. She was strategic, it seemed, not to touch him anywhere but the youth didn't want to take a chance. His eyes shut, teeth gritted as he just let her lay there against his chest. He didn't want to reject her. He wanted her to stay there. But he couldn't move for fear of accidentally running some skin over her. He swallowed.
It wouldn't hurt to raise his arms to her would it?
The male cautiously raised his hands to the side of her arms, gripping them softly with his palms. "Jakkie." He whispered her name in her ear. He leaned back slightly, not separating entirely but far enough away to move his hand to her cheek. His lips parted slightly before he lowered his hand again, patting her shoulder awkwardly.
"Yeah," he said, "Yeah, Jakkie, I...like you too."

He was stiff, this much she'd expected. But he didn't pull away exactly, leaving her feeling rejected. Instead a small pull back, his hand on her cheek as she looked at his parted lips. And then greeted with the string of an awkward pat on her shoulder. And then he said again that he liked her. She wrinkled her nose, not with distaste but almost teasing.
"I'm not saying it again." she hissed in warning. Not true anger or annoyance, but a harsh sort of affection, perhaps the closest thing to bashfulness that Jakkie could manage.
It felt weird. Like this should have been the point that she kissed him or something. But obviously that was out of the question. In any case.. she wanted to kiss him... He'd been good to her. Something of a moody sulky shit... but Kevin was good to her. So she didn't care. He wasn't any worse than how moody she could be anyways.
She chewed on the inside of her lower lip, and was hesitant when she moved in. Not towards his face, but she pressed her lips tentatively to his robed shoulder, on the end of his collar bone in a small kiss. And then gave him a very subtle and gentle shove, as she stepped away.
If he was going to push her away for that, she didn't want him to. So she'd beat him to the chase, but then refuse to meet his gaze, occasionally glancing up for a reaction. But he had to know she did feel something for him, without actually having to say it. She didn't want to have to say it.

Kevin lowered his head, eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. His lip quivered as Jakkie's pale lips touched the robe under his shoulder. He swallowed as she pulled back. Kevin was positive that she didn't want him to shove her off which the intelligent version of him wanted to do. His eyes narrowed darkly as he nervously rubbed his hands off on the front of his robe before placing them in the pockets of the plush blackness. Could he say much? What could he say? She liked him. Now he realized she REALLY liked him. Kevin was sure that wasn't going to happen in his whole life.
The small peck seemed to last minutes instead of seconds. Kevin pressed closer, placing his hand in her's. He made a face, kind of uncomfortable as he stared at her bare hand in his gloved palm. It was a reminder. He dropped her hand. He didn't say anything as he passed back, pressing back on the balls of his feet.
He winced, rubbing the back of his hair again. Again no words bubbled into his mouth. He just didn't say anything, shaking his head and offering a smile. A silence was hanging in the air, uncomfortable. For him anyway.

She looked up at him intently, eyes squinted but not angrily. He didn't say anything. Picked up her hand and something flickered in her chest, making her breathing a little light. And then he dropped it, and it tightened. Nothing. He still didn't say anything. For a split second, annoyance flashed over her face. Was this denial? What was this? She couldn't tell. And it was pissing her off to a degree.
"You're such a little boy." she hissed accusingly. Maybe he should have been thankful that he had his death touch to protect him from something as substantial as a real kiss. He probably wouldn't have been able to handle it. And then she pressed her lips together tightly, and looked down, her forehead becoming a little tense.
Now she was chewing on her lower lip, unnaturally sharp tooth showing slightly against her skin, as she tilted her pointed ears back. It was a rare little display of embarrassment that didn't usually come to the surface
"The kind that makes people uncomfortable. Uneasy and repelling." she said, finally answering his earlier question as to what kind of person she was. And then she looked up at him, nodding certainly. "That's what kind of person I am."
In a way she was a lot like Kevin. People didn't get close to her.

"Am not."
Kevin gave a cute smile, hair flicking down slightly, covering parts of his eyes. He blew upwards, trying to get the brown, blonde strands out of his eyes. He listened to her talk, saw her shift uncomfortably, a tiny cute tooth poking out of her mouth. He couldn't help but widen the grin on his face.
"Aw, Jakkie, you don't make me uncomfortable," Kevin breathed softly, "Or 'repel' me in any way. I promise." He placed a palm on her shoulder, gently. "If anything I should disgust you."
"I don't think you're as bad as you think you are," Kevin said softly, "If you'd just maybe try and...you know, enroll in the school, maybe make some like female friends. Maybe you know, skip a class or hang out in the lunch room. Maybe you just need to play around with...being a kid."

Jakkie looked up at him, feeling a mixture of emotions to what he had to say. Her chest stirred a little when he rested his hand on her shoulder, and she examined his small smile. The way his hair fell into his eyes and as he blew it from his visage. She couldn't figure out this apparent interest she held in some of his physical features. Regardless, she was bothered by most of what he'd said.
"Your mutation is as much of you, as my other.. side is me." she tried to convey, that she wasn't disgusted in him in the slightest. For the things she'd done before? There was a special place in hell for Jakkie, she was sure. "You, adopting your.. touch." she shook her head, "It's the same as saying that monster is me. It's not me." and then she was aggressive, in convincing him, or more likely herself, that she was not the beast that had done terrible things. But... despite this concept, she still felt responsible, for said terrible things.
"Most girls are weak." she protested with a wrinkled nose. Jakkie didn't often talk about her mother. She'd died; ill and abused, and not a figure of strength in the least.

Kevin smiled softly, his hand still resting on her shoulder. "I know," he said, quietly, "Sometimes I forget that. Sometimes I'm stupid like that." He paused and lifted his head towards his hand before removing it from her shoulder. Touch was awful, touch was torture. He pushed himself closer however. It was a toxic torture, a poisonous torture but he liked it. He sighed, pushing back his hair again. It had been a habit, something he'd taken to doing when he was nervous. He placed his hands in the pockets of his robe.
"Well," he said, "Maybe we should stop awkwardly standing in the hallway, huh?" His voice seemed to slip in and out, like he was holding something back. Kevin was aware Jakkie wasn't stupid; she'd probably notice.

"Then stop adopting it to yourself so much..." she hissed, but didn't look up at him. Something shifted in her, as she looked up at him warily, narrowed eyes carefully examining him as he did get a little closer. But now she was being careful. Her guards were going up and for whatever reasons she was closing off again.
When he suggested they leave the hallway, she merely nodded, scowling at the ground and with a sharp turn, her back was to him. Wordlessly, she began to take her leave, probably back to Kevin's room where she'd curl up on the floor and not speak.
But he was right. She wasn't stupid, and she did notice. As she rolled her shoulders, trying to loosen up her muscles as she made to leave Kevin where he'd been standing, she screwed up her face in the comfort that he wouldn't be able to see. But her pointed ears did shift downwards noticeably.
She was getting tired of pushing him, at least for tonight. Jakkie didn't often care to have so much as a second conversation with people, so the fact that Kevin was so hard for her to work out, even taking into account the difficulties of his powers?
Jakkie was surprised that it felt bad.
