(( January 13th open to all))
The subway was empty, and somewhat cold in its silence. The steady thrum of an approaching train intruded the eerily quiet station, perhaps adding an even more unsteady sensation. The train hustled forward, before lurching into a slow stop, scattering some garbage and papers left behind by people of the day.
When it finally came to a full halt and the doors parted, sliding open and releasing compressed air, only one, singular person exited the one occupied compartment. Even at this time of night, it was odd. However, she hadn't been alone.
Behind her, she left the unconscious bodies of a few men, maybe five. It wasn't a massacre, exactly, as the only blood was that of the trails sliding down their jaws, or now crooked noses. And also her own.
A thin dribble of blood from her mouth, she turned and spat it out, wiping it from her lips, before securing a toothpick in her teeth and hiking up her back-pack. The doors closed behind her, and the train began a steady climb of speed, taking the compartment full of people away from her, and the view of anyone else.
"Idiots." she mumbled, followed by a few more loosely chosen cusses, as she headed towards the stairs that would take her to street level on New York.

"Scuse me." The Southern born youth was lost in the city that never sleeps once again. He had a subway map in his hands as he descended the stairs into the darkened tunnel. He was careful not to slip, parking his sneakers on the slippery floor. He wanted to return to Grand Central Station but had to idea how to get there. Not which train to take, not which bus and he didn't want to hail a cab, not again. The cabbie had screwed him over royally resulting in Kevin having to fork over ten more dollars than he should have.
Now he was determined to make his way through the city on foot or rail. But now he was utterly lost.
Spotting the girl, Kevin waved her down, hoping she'd stop and help him. "Excuse me," he repeated, "But I just wanted to know if you knew which train to take to get to Grand Central?"

She turned around, heaving a sigh and looked up, red eyes rolling. Her shoulders dropped, one arm holding her bag over one shoulder, examining the boy skeptically. After looking him up and down she idly decided one thing fairly quickly. He was a marshmallow. By her standards. She shifted her mouth, biting down on the toothpick and giving a shrug.
"Dunno." she sniffed, before busying her eyes with things besides the boy. She lifted a hand and adjusted the black toque on her head so it was secure over her ears and white hair.
"Couldn' tell ya. Never been to New York." she shrugged again, finding his eyes again. It was all truth. She'd taken the train not caring which part of the city she was brought to, so long as it was in fact, in New York. Anywhere to get away from her dad.
The thought of her old man made her red eyes flash, and pupils dilate into slits for just a moment. She hadn't broken eye-contact with the boy in that instant.

She looked jumpy which made Kevin slightly uneasy as he stood on the darkened platform. People just weren't southern comfort friendly down here and he had to remember that. He just stared forwards at her eyes. They were red, he was sure of it. A fact even more apparent when her eyes flashed and changed. Kevin couldn't hold back his slight fear as he jumped, dropping the subway map to the ground, gripping the strap of his shoulder bag. He had half a mind to remove his gloves just in case this thing decided to jump at him.
He braced his sneakers into the slick stone of the subway. "Nice eyes," he breathed. He was hoping she'd stave off if she knew what he was, what kind of creature he was that was more monstrous than she could ever hope to be.

Jumpy? Perhaps not. Jakkie was a mixture of unsettled boredom. Power thrummed beneath her very skin, in the form of a beast waiting to jump forth and take control through even a spark of anger. It was a mental battle every day, fighting back the beast that so hungrily wanted to feast. Jakkie had eaten a person before. In beast form of course, but she'd been very human upon bringing it back up.
She held a cool gaze when he commented on her eyes. Red. Yes. But she wasn't completely clueless. She narrowed her eyes at him and lifted a thin brow.
"Yeah." she said, pursing her lips for a moment, "What of them?" she asked steadily. Her voice was level, but their was a challenge in there, if he had a problem with who she was.
There was much more in her question than what she'd said however. She waited for him to elaborate, to be more specific. Jakkie wasn't just about to spill her beans because he dropped off a hint to something more... extraordinary.

Kevin dipped his head in a nod, letting his arms hang lazily at his side before placing the gloved hands in his pockets. He did take a couple of cautious steps backwards before addressing the girl. She looked dangerous but also a little lost. Was she like him? Coming to New York because she was something everyone feared and she had no one to talk to about it? Kevin decided to try. He'd explained to more than one curious student about his powers and how they weren't useless. His green orbs pierced through the New York City darkness as his chest rose and fell with nerves. If this girl WAS a mutant like he suspected, he hoped she wasn't dangerous.
Then again what could be more dangerous than his power? His eyes narrowed slightly. "They're unique," he said, shifting his weight onto one foot more than the other, "Red. Like you're a..." He ran his fingers through his shaggy brown hair.
"Well," he huffed, "I don't want to pry. Don't want to be rude either." He gave a curt nod. "I'm Kevin," he said, Georgia Southern style showing through, "At school they call me...Wither." There was a hint there. He hoped maybe she was an Xavier student he hadn't seen or at least had HEARD of the X-Men.

There was a tenseness, but she looked surprisingly relaxed and unphased. When he mentioned a school and a name of sorts, her demeanor seemed to change. It was a bitter amusement of sorts, her eyes cold as a smile cracked on her lips. Almost in disbelief.
"Oh..." she laughed dryly, "That school." she smirked. "Well if you must know, I am in fact a pretty... unique girl." her eyes flashed upon 'unique' as she gave a mocking attempt at a pompous rich person accent.
"Alright." she laughed, "You run along then, m'sure your school 'ell find ya and bring ya back where it's warm and safe. I won't even fit in there as a freak." she laughed briefly, coldly, before turning her back, hiking up her bag and began walking away.
She was done with this soft loser.

"Yeah sure," Kevin scoffed, his fear slowing down, "You won't fit in there? You're a mutant, you'll always fit in there." He sneered, dipping his head. "At least you can pass for normal," he muttered, sticking his hands in his pockets and walking away. She could touch, could feel, could kiss as far as he knew. Him? He was stuck in a virginity that knew no bounds.
His eyes shut tightly as he moved away. He couldn't find the school now. He wasn't n the mood. Freak. That was the last word he wanted to hear.

She eyed him, almost hungrily. A slight smile took her face but it was dark and a little unnerving, as she exhaled a bit of amusement through her nose and rolled her eyes. This kid was hilarious... and obviously didn't know her at all.
"Alright." he cold, flat voice cut through the silence, "I'll bite. What makes you so special?" she took on a grimmer tone, were it possible, towards the end, as she put emphasis on the last word. Special. It's what they were told they all were right? By the people who were 'accepting'?
Perhaps her asking was the closest thing to kindness that Jakkie could offer to a stranger. What was softy gonna do with anything he knew about her anyways?

"Special? SPECIAL?!" Kevin voice raised slightly at the word. His powers were a touchy subject. Despite being proud to be a mutant and having a desire to protect them by wearing the X-Men uniform, Kevin was still dwelling on being a killer. He'd murdered his father. It was an accident but it was still murder. His eyes shut tightly before turning his emerald daggers towards the girl. She thought she was such hot shit. It boiled his blood to think she was smiling there, dark as it was. His fear of her had slipped. She was just a puffed up little girl who knew nothing NOTHING about him and his past.
"Look little girl," he spat, pointing an accusing finger at her, "I don't care who you think you are. Unique or not. You don't know me or what I am."
He didn't feel like explaining. "Piss off," he mumbled, starting his way down the stairs. Perhaps he'd ride the subway to who knows where. Anywhere to get away from his thoughts.

If Jakkie was phased, she hardly presented it, only raising a brow as he put a finger in her face. Cool eyes looked down at it, before returning to his face. Jakkie had killed too. Jakkie had killed... well.. a lot. Whoever this kid had ended, she was sure she could top it. She'd eaten people in her monstrous form, and then vomited them up later as a human.
He headed for the stairs, and a very small part of her panicked.
"I wouldn't go down there." she called out, a small bit of her voice raised, slipping up that bored cool tone. Perhaps that would get his attention, but regardless she'd continue.
"There's going to be a bit of a scene down there... police n' stuff... mapping off the systems." she shook her head. "Whether I'm unique or not... I sure do a lot of damage..." those thuggish guys where what she was thinking about, but her mind also had glimpses of women, and children.
She didn't kill them... that was the closest thing to control she could manage.
"If you're so different and dangerous yourself... I don't think you want to get mixed up in that scene. Might take the blame for my... accident." she finished grimly, but wore a bitter grin at the end. She was speaking cryptically, deliberately leaving out the meat of what she'd done.
Yeah, she'd beat those thugs off of her. But there had been a few others present at the time too.

"Fuck. What did somebody get killed?" He turned over his shoulder, green gems narrowed to slits. Now he couldn't hop on the subway. Now he HAD to find his way back to Xavier's for fear of being blamed for someone else's murder. He turned on his heels and headed up the ramp. There had to be another track, another train something.
"I can't get blamed if there's a death," he huffed as he walked by, "I've got enough with one on my conscience." Now he was being cryptic. He did not want to let on he killed his father. She might actually try and pin the "accident," whatever it was, on him.

"I don't think so." she shrugged, when he'd asked if someone had gotten killed. She had tried. Really tried, not to kill someone, so she could say she didn't kill anyone. But a box full of unconscious bodies wasn't much better. Still, her answer was vague.
"C'mon then." she asked again, "What's you're... talent." she said the last word extra flatly, leaving very little room to assume she really thought it was something special. For lack of a better word, she often referred to her own... illness, in the same manner.
"Tell you mine if you tell me yours..." she lifted her chin, bored eyes scanning over him curiously before adding, "partner..." in a careful tone.

"Talent? Sure let's call it that."
Kevin would have demonstrated but everything around him was industrial. The way he liked it. Maybe that was why he preferred Manhattan to Westchester, because everything in Westchester was green and fluffy. His emerald eyes flickered towards Jakkie as he snorted, leaning on the cold silver of the handrail on the stairs.
"Death," he said bluntly, sharp eyes narrowed towards her, "Death is my 'talent' as you so lightly put it." He looked at his gloved hands. "One touch and you're...well...a pile of dust."
He upturned his head towards her. "That's why they call me Wither," he said blankly, "That's why I can't BE here when shit goes down. " His voice raised a bit with fear and panic before he lowered it again.
"I really don't want to get arrested for something I didn't do. Especially when I didn't get arrested for what I did do."

Death. Wasn't that also a trait of hers as well? An art, a talent, a curse. A curse. Looked like they were more or less in the same boat, him with his death touch. She examined him a moment with cool eyes, not betraying any of the feelings she currently had. He didn't want to get arrested, fair enough but that left the question of what he did do that he should've been arrested for. Probably killed someone by mistake. Jakkie had killed many, some by mistake some.... by mistake, that she didn't feel sorry for.
"Don't know what you'd call what I have." she gave it the tone of disease and closed her eyes. "Call it monster I guess." when she opened her eyes they were red, but the pupils were now distinct slits.
"These are the aspects I can control... for now..." and then she introduced what she could. She wasn't concerned about any passing civilians. There was no one. Not a soul could fully explain the nature of Jakkie's mutation, so instead of beating around the bush, she'd show him; however unlikely it was that he'd want to see it.
She opened her mouth, jaws extending past the normally allowed lengths, a pointed tongue slithering from her throat as teeth pushed out into something longer and sharper. It was grotesque and frightening, a long tongue writhing in the air as a green sort of ooze dripped from her gums.
And then, she quickly retracted it all. Tongue sliding back into her throat, teeth sinking to something more normal, and when she blinked hard again, her eyes were normal. Well, more normal than before. She rubbed some green saliva from the corner of her mouth with her sleeve, never once breaking eye-contact with him.
Perhaps he'd have a better assessment of how accepting the Xavier kiddies would be now. She had mentioned that this was the side she could control, leaving him to wonder what the wilder side was.
