History: Kitty grew up in Deerfield, Illinois with her mother and father. Her genius-level intellect allowed her to take college-level courses, despite her young age. She lead a normal life until she started suffering severe headaches. It was when she was 13 1/2 that Emma Frost went to speak with Kitty's parents about enrolling her in Massachusetts Academy. Later, Professor X and three X-Men arrived. After an attack by the Hellfire Club in which Kitty helped the team, the X-man Phoenix telepathically coerced Kitty's parents into allowing her to go to Xavier's School. She became the youngest member of the X-men, taking the name Sprite, but later changing it to Ariel.
Kitty grew strong bonds with Storm, Illyana, and Colossus. Katherine took the dragon, Lockheed, in as her pet, growing a sort of a telepathic connection with him. She also grew close to Doug Ramsey, another close friend she met in dance class who shared her love for computers. Although, his death on a mission with the new mutants was one of the many loses she would have to suffer.
After visiting her recently-divorced father, Carmen, Kitty learned that he had become involved with the Japanese Yakuza and followed her father to Japan, where she fell under the mind control of Ogun. Wolverine taught Kitty how to be powerful enough to combat Ogun, and together they exposed his spirit. During the course of this, Kitty took to calling herself Shadowcat. While she was still young, after this event, Kitty was no longer the sweet and innocent little girl everyone knew.
Sample Post: Kitty sighed, twirling one of her knives. She didn't want to fight these people. Sure, the people of Gotham could be unruly, but they were still people! It was just like mutants and humans! They could live in peace if they worked at it and tried! There was no need to fight! No lives should have to be lost to make a point of who is better. They were all people, to an extent. Sure there were mutants, humans, superhumans, and even gods on Earth, but they all just wanted to fit into society. Right? She didn't know anyone that didn't just want to lead a casual life. Of course, the hazel-eyed girl mainly only knew mutants, and a whole lot of mutants wish they were human, after all.
Maybe the gods and superhumans and geniuses wanted different things. But that still didn't mean people had to fight.
Sighing, Katherine threw her knife at a tree, hanging her head as she heard the familiar sound of the metal piercing the bark. Walking down the hiker's trail, she pulled her knife out as she passed, wishing that society could be as simple as throwing a knife.
