(Closed to Nia and Kat, January 28th.)
Gotham was the last place that Nia expected to see. She was glad to have left the city a few weeks back, content to hunt for her wayward sister somewhere else.
It had been too overwhelming for her to be stuck in the city for very long. Too much light, noise and everything else. It made it impossible for her to settle, she had been forever restless, kicked into sensory overdrive by the constant bombardment of information and unable to shift to feline form to escape. She had to endure it as best she could while also keeping alert for any signs of her sister.
She missed Kat. All she wanted was to see her older sister and get her home again. It seemed like such a simple goal when she started out but Kat had proved more illusive that even she imagined.
Kat must have forgotten that she was just as clever as she was, she found out the trail her sister had laid was a fake soon enough. If she wasn't so concerned for her sister's safety she would have been impressed.
But now, Nia was back again and this time Kat wasn't going to give her the slip.

There was a flicker of light around the corner from where Nia was walking. The scent of smoke would fill the nostrils of anyone within a couple of feet or anyone with heightened senses. The youth lifted the cigarette to her thin pale lips and dragged in the smoke to her lungs, letting in out in a billowy breath, not caring who she blew smoke on. Right now she had a serious problem to deal with.
Her accommodations.
The well of money she'd saved from home was running dry and stealing shit was only going to get her so far. The motel room where she was staying was demanding her to pay. She would split if not for the fact the suburban raised teen was too much of a snob to sleep in a homeless shelter or on the street.
She gave a feline snarl before stomping her vice out on the concrete. Gotham was dark. Maybe it was time to go back to New York. She turned the corner and caught up her coat as she walked by, head down. Her arm slammed into the girl she was too busy to notice was her sister.
"HEY! Watch where you're going!" She snapped, while continuing to walk forward.

The sudden blow caused Nia to stumble, catching herself only at the very last second to avoid a painful landing on the hard ground. She too gave a loud cat-like hiss but quickly stopped when she saw who exactly had almost sent her sprawling.
In the dim light it would have been nearly impossible to identify the stranger but Nia's eyes picked out almost every feature. She paused in shock, blinking in the darkness at the girl she had been chasing for months.
"Kat?" her voice was somewhere between timid and surprised. Her sister was the last person she had expected to encounter in a dark alley, the last person she expected to encounter anywhere for that matter. She thought she would have to fight tooth and nail to get to her older sister and yet here she was just walking away as if nothing had happened.
"KAT!" Nia called after her, running forwards to grab her arm.

A feral snarl echoed out of her throat as her arm was grabbed. She was not above tearing a citizen of Gotham to shreds; it was how she'd survived on the streets for so long. But the female's eyes widened as she lowered her hand full of claws. Her lips parted slightly as she shifted all of her feline features back, blinking a bit as her surprised lips upturned in a smile. The smile turned to a playful grin.
"Well, well, well," she clucked with a laugh, "Nia as I live and breath." She gave her sister a slap on the shoulder. No hug. Kat didn't do hugs. She avoided any human contact when she could, even from her family.
Her eyes flickered slightly. "What are you doing here?" She asked, "I thought you'd be too much of a goody two shoes to leave the precious Xavier institute."

Nia resisted the urge to throw her arms around her sister. She knew Kat didn't like those kind of affectionate displays but she hadn't seen her for months now and the sight of her older sister alive and well made Nia happy. At least she hadn't found a dead body in a ditch somewhere, that had been her worst nightmare.
"I...I've been looking for you." she replied truthfully, her excitement getting the better of her "I followed you here all the way from the Institute. I've....I've missed you, Kat."
Now would have been the time when any other siblings would have hugged and went on about how good it was to see the other safe. But that wasn't them, it had never been. Instead, Nia returned Kat's slap with a small light bat to the other girl's shoulder, happy to be reuinted with her older sister.
"How've you been? Isn't it a nightmare living here?" she asked, gesturing to the street where sirens and cars could be heard. Nia knew they were a long way off but to her it was like they were only a few feet from where they both stood.

"Pffffft. That's mad creeps, you might wanna phrase it a different way when you say it to different people."
Tough girl placed her hand on the bare skin of her hip, giving a sly concealing smile to her twin. Nia was always such a goody two-shoes. She'd always attend class, always obey Xavier and...well spent 90% of her time holed up in her room on Tumblr. So Kat realized what a gesture it was for her to leave the safety of her school and come trekking through the streets of dirty, smelly, Gotham looking for her. She tried to hide every sense of emotion on her face however when Nia asked about the city.
"Oh yeah, well," Kat huffed, scratching her cheek with elongated fingernails, "Y'know its not so bad. I've spent like ninety percent of my time with johns who have wonderful rich apartments. I'm a hooker now, y'know."
She cracked up. "Calm your mane, Nia," she said before her sister could flip out, "I'm kidding. It's nothing like home or the fluffy beds of Xavier's but it IS bloody awful. Smelly, dirty, I can't TELL you how many times I've stepping in something and didn't even wanna know what the hell it was." She scrunched her nose. "Hang on, that brings me to a good point. Where the heck are YOU staying? I mean, I'm tough, you're soft and gooey. Where are you staying here?"
