((January 17th. For Alec, Jakkie and Maxwell))
She'd finished her running a while ago. Got caught slipping some bills from some guys pocket. She'd taken the money, but it was only hers once she'd outrun him done some alley, and truly shaken him off when she'd jumped a fence.
It wasn't hard.
Now she sat in Central Park on a bench under a tree. She bore no guilt in stealing. It was how she lived, and why should she be bothered? Not like it was really going to hurt the guy, he obviously had more than she did, wearing that fancy brief-coat. Man, he must've thought he was pretty important.
She sat, cool eyes observing those who were passing by, on walks, taking short cuts and who cares what else. Her belly was full, after downing a couple of hot-dogs and a pop.
Jakkie leaned into the bench, one arm tucked around her bag, as she pulled up the hood of her jacket to sit lazily on the top of her head. Being a girl of much fashion sense, she wore sweatpants; easy to replace should something happen and she changed form, and a pair of dirty black converses, snug on her feet.

The taste of burned Duck a l'Orange was still making it's way around Alec's mouth as he walked through central park, fancy clothes for once feeling too tight on him as he walked. He'd just suffered his way through a society luncheon, smiling and shaking hands, making conversation and assuring investors that his father's company was going to get the deal with the quickly reviving Wayne Enterprises.
They were right to be nervous - his father wasn't in good with the Wayne board. He'd probably be summoned from the school to fix that as well. His abilities were a abomination when he used them for himself, but for the sake of the family... well, then it was a necessary evil.
He'd ditched his driver the moment he'd been released, and had found himself here in the park in better spirit. Along the way he'd run into an old dealer friend, and for kicks had taken the bag of pills from the guy and made him forget ever having them. They were in his pocket still, worth a pretty penny. But as always, money was unimportant to Alec.
Giving a quick scope around, eyes lingering on the figure which to him looked grubby on the bench, and chucked the pills into the water, scattering a few live ducks. The dealer had tried talking big about Alec when news got around he was going to be leaving the normal private school. The doing good by keeping drugs off the street was a bonus Alec didn't even think of.

"I've got the magic in me every time I touch that track it turns into goooold now everybody knows I've got the- hm?"
Spotlight was singing softly under his breath, reading a song book he'd just bought in Times Square at a music store on 48th street. It was to help him work out his vocal chords and give him a bit of light reading on the train or in class when he got bored. The youth was wearing clothes appropriate for the weather, baggy jeans and a hoody piled under a black coat. He wore a gray and white scarf over the coat. He turned, hearing the sound of quaking ducks to see someone tossing something into the water. He scrunched his nose; littering wasn't exactly something he was fond of.
He did, however, recognize the boy from somewhere. Math class, that was it. He moved up towards the youth and dipped his head in a nod. "Hey, you're in my math class at the school right?" he asked cheerily, "Fancy running into you here. God this city is a small world in its own, huh?" His smile was bright and friendly towards the youth.

Jakkie had been watching the stuck up kid empty some contents into the ponds. She wasn't concerned about his littering, or what he was littering. What really provoked her interest was his appearance. Nice clothes, nice hair, smug look.
He was a rich boy, son a of a rich man. Probably had load of money in his pockets. These kinds always did. She was calculating her entrance, and just how she'd escape after looting his pockets of their contents, when another kid approached.
Eyebrow raised. This made it somewhat more complicated, and she contemplated just how long they were going to talk before parting ways. She wasn't going to attempt a theft with two. Too much chance at getting caught, too much risk for just how nicely her day was going so far. She remained at a distance, red eyes staring coolly in their direction, not making much of an effort to look away.
People always thought she was going to rob them, regardless of whether she was watching. So why bother concealing? So long as they only knew they'd been robbed after she was gone, everything was cool, right?

Dumping drugs in Central Park was not exactly the moment he wanted to run into a class mate, but as most illegal things failed to phase Alec, he managed not to show his moment of nervousness as he was addressed, the other guy coming up with a huge smile.
The smile Alec returned was brief and mildly annoyed. He didn't like the idea of being seen with class mates. What if someone he knew showed up? He was proud of being a mutant, but no one needed to know he went to the Institute.
"Yeah, eight point two million. Small world." He said in mock cheer. "Right, Math. Those classes tend to blur together..."
His way of saying he didn't recognize the fellow mutant at all, since he either spent Math watching the clock or watching the window.
Speaking of watching, Alec was beginning to get that unsettling sensation of being observed. He turned his head back to the person on the bench, frowning. How much had they seen even? He didn't really care if people saw him toss drugs, there wasn't an interrogation room he couldn't talk his way out of. Still, he didn't enjoy being gawked at.

"Yeah," Max said placing his hands in his pockets and turning towards Alec. "Name's Maxwell," he said with a nod, "Spotlight to 'our kind.' Heh." He turned over his shoulder and peered towards the girl. She was clearly staring and not making an effort to hide it. The youth gave a smile before moving towards the girl. She looked...sad sort of. In a strange way she was a girl who looked as if she could use a talking to. He shuffled over, light brush of snow crunching under his feet as he gave a wave.
"Hey!" He said, "So, checking him out or me out? Either way its cool." He smiled brighter. He wasn't shy about being a friendly mess. After all if she was staring she probably wanted some company right?

She tilted her head as he approached, wearing a face clearly not of amusement as he addressed her. Jakkie seemed to be trying to decide whether he was joking or not. Did she really pass as a girl who was pleasant enough for conversation? Her odd pale skin, red eyes painted with dark makeup, ghostly white hair on her shoulders from beneath the hood. For now, it was the only thing that hid her pointed ears. Her toque was clutched in a free hand.
She openly examined him, scrutinizing him with an unfriendly eye, and then laughed.
"Sooner hand you your ass than check you out." she admitted truthfully, and then her eyes went to the other kid. "And Mr. Posh over there? Well. I doubt he's had a hard day in his life. He wouldn't be ready for me." she put on a mock low, sultry voice on the last sentence.
Jakkie wasn't interested in either of the boys, except for whatever money they might have in their pockets. Otherwise she wouldn't give them the time 'a day.

"Say it a little louder, I don't think the people on the other end of the island got the hint." Alec muttered under his breath, then watched as Maxwell went running off toward the person he'd been watching. "Mmm, yes, marvelous. Lets go see if the Creature From the Black Lagoon wants to join the delightful meet."
Still Alec trailed behind, hands in his pockets. He smirked at the girl's comment. Never a hard day? She didn't know him at all - but no. Not hard in the sense she was thinking of.
"Some of us just have a natural advantage - can't help it if I got ahead in the race." He shrugged. "As for being ready, well - I'm always willing to try for a pretty face."

"Most likely," Max said, shrugging in reply to her comment about handing him his ass, "I'm not the best fighter in town. But I make up for it with wittiness and charming good looks." His casual manner was probably delusional but he didn't care. He leaned to the right slightly, turning his head briefly to see Alec come over. His face stayed neutral as the other boy spoke. He rolled his eyes. Flirt. Max didn't really have a problem with flirtation so long as it was done properly and smoothly. That was not smooth.
In his humble opinion of course.
His head turned back to the girl. She looked homeless which made him frown slightly. He didn't like to think of her sleeping on a cardboard box over a subway grate. "So, ah, where do you live?" He asked. Now who was being subtle.

She leaned back on the bench, tilting her head and glancing back and forth between the two boys. To Mr. Natural Advantage's comment, she cracked her head to tilt on the other side, and felt a twinge of annoyance, and to the other; well, she chuckled. It was cold, and close to something careless.
"Is this a joke?" she asked, tone flat and skeptical. She was trying to decide if they were seriously hitting on her, or just passing time. She hated to be the object of a bet, but at the very least if that proved true, she'd have a reason for trying to beat them senseless.
When one boy asked where she lived she nearly burst out laughing, red eyes flashing with annoyance and amusement at once.
"My god, you are charming and witty, aren't you?" she asked mockingly. She was being deadly sarcastic now. "Least you could do is ask me out before you try taking to my home." she smirked, deliberately avoiding answering his question.
"Quite the pair, you two are. Jesus." she mumbled, before looking the 'rich boy' up and down critically.

Raising a hand, Alec placed it on his classmate's shoulder, patting him if pretend camaraderie. "I think what my socially awkward and moderately creepy friend meant was, hey, want to go out for coffee some time, or dinner."
Releasing Spotlight he'd shrug as she blatantly looked him over. Somehow it wasn't as flattering coming from her. More like, 'Where is the easiest place to puncture this man's vital organs' than 'Hot damn mister man'.
"Alec," he stepped up, offering a hand with his most charming smile. He threw in a head tilt, just to look unassuming. "Care for some coffee?"
Hey, Alec liked a challenge. And suffered from an acutely under-active sense of fear.

"That's not what I meant in the slightest."
Max's voice sounded slightly irked. He'd spoken out of concern, not out of lust. He rolled his eyes at the youth beside him. He was laying it on a bit thick, wasn't he? His eyes narrowed darkly before turning sympathetically on Jakkie. But he held his tongue while Alec asked the girl on a date. His nose wrinkled as he turned, staring blankly as the red-eyed girl looked Alec over like she was examining what would soon be a corpse.
Red eyes.
Spotlight's eyes widened. "You're a mutant!" He blurted out, not so subtly.

She squinted at the newly introduced Alec, looking at his hand skeptically before waving it away. It was dismissive, and to turned her face to the side to further represent just how opposed she was to the idea. Or rather, how boring she found it.
"I don't drink coffee," she lied, she'd totally drink coffee if it suited her, "Think of something more original." she offered, but her tone was cold. She assumed this would shut him down well enough. However, she didn't have time to dwell in it when the other kid spoke up.
"You're a mutant!"
Her eyes flashed to him, but she made a show of it, looking genuinely surprised. She raised her brow at him, pressing her lips together in an innocent sort of way, as if she were confused by his words.
"I'm sorry what?" she played dumb beautifully. It wasn't hard to mimic over eighty percent of the population. She furrowed her brow, shaking her head at him although she were trying to figure out what he meant. "I'm not... I don't know what you mean exactly?" she offered up instead, but managed to hold her same skepticism as before. Jakkie did a fantastic job making her believable.
Why would she want these two to know she was a mutant? Jeez.

Alec felt the edge of his lips tug at the girl's flat out refusal. Oh, how very feisty. Still his attention was entirely diverted as his lumbering companion declared rather blatantly what might or might not have been the girl's species status.
Did all Xavier students go around talking about mutant abilities? He supposed his latest foray into the world has result in as much... maybe it was infectious.
Taking the opportunity Alec turned to face Spotlight by standing beside the girl, shaking his head and looking exasperated. "Seriously, Max - can I call you Max? - you can't just go around asking people if their mutants."
Shaking his head, Alec put his hand on the girls arm, and putting as much force into his powers as he could, he reached out through the connection, picturing calm and interest pouring through his hand into the girl. "Don't let Max upset you, he means well. Let me make it up to you - go out with me tonight. It'll be fun - come on, you know your tempted."
He took care not to make it obvious he was giving commands - no need to get his schoolmate running off to tell the others he was flaunting his abilities to his own benefit. He wasn't supposed to be using them at all, according to his parents.
